Nanna Riis Andersen (b. 1985) is a Danish artist, based in Ringsted (DK).
The work of Nanna Riis Andersen is centered around the shapes and structures of the body through drawing, painting and sculpture. Sources and references range from medical advertisement, surgery and anatomy which is woven together into abstract, fragmented shapes, that appear as broken down parts; as a decomposition of organic matter.
To offer an example Riis Andersen has been preoccupied with the holes and inner cavities of the body as an interesting concept of carrying capacity.
Her work offers a complex and detailed imagery that seems to be constantly changing, and focuses attention on our understanding of identity, value and time.
Since graduating from Jutland Art Academy 2012 she has participated in several national and international exhibitions, recently at Drawing Attention at Den Frie Udstillingsbygning (DK) 2019.
In September 2020 Nanna Riis Andersen was awarded the prestigious SVEN HOLS LEGAT 2020.
