Interview with Maria Koshenkova for Russian Art Focus
August 2020
A sculptor and glass artist, Russian born Maria Koshenkova has been living in Denmark for 15 years. Her projects have been exhibited in museums from America to Japan and her glassworks are on display in Brussels, Rome and St. Petersburg, where she was born. With her practice Koshenkova is trying to change the notion that the intrinsic beauty of glass makes this material a poor fit for storytelling. The artist blends her innate desire for conflict with cool Scandinavian aesthetics to preserve in the glass the strong emotions she gets from the world.
